What Is A Transitional Support Worker
Transitional Support is the support service offered at the Mississauga First Nation Women's Shelter. The service provides women and children with assistance in making a transition from an abusive life to one that is "free from violence".
Support is Provided to:
- empower women to make changes need to begin living violence-free lives.
- assist in safety planning for her and her children
- connect her with appropriate resources that provide support, encouragement, and assistance.
The Support Worker can assist with:
- housing, counselling, income support, legal assistance/legal aid, job training, parental support, educational upgrading, health and wellness services, and other services you may need to access
We offer clients the support systems that allow women to make the move into leading "violence free lives"
- If you experience abuse and violence in your relationship
- If you are fearfull for you and your children safety
-If you feel there is no way out
- If you don't know where to turn
Who Can Access The Program?
- Women searching for information on domestic violence
- All women from various age groups
- Women who are experiencing spousal abusein any form
- Any person who wants to assist and support a woman who is being abused
- Individuals and professionals involved in helping abused women
We offer Transitional Support Services to both native and non-native clientele in our catchment area from Sault Ste. Marie to Sudbury Ontario. Including women who may be physically disabled or socially isolated.
