Housing & Infrastructure Committee

The Housing & Infrastructure Committee provides advice and recommendations on housing and community infrastructure matters affecting Mississauga First Nation. The Committee considers community needs and priorities and supports work related to housing, infrastructure planning and the development of related policies and initiatives.

What the Committee Does

  • Reviewing housing applications, projects, allocations and renovation requests.

  • Providing recommendations to Chief and Council on housing matters.

  • Supporting the development and review of housing policies.

  • Advising Chief and Council on infrastructure-related issues.

  • Making informed recommendations and motions to Chief and Council.

  • Recommending new or amended infrastructure policies.

  • Providing a forum for community members to raise concerns and access information.

  • Supporting infrastructure-related activities and proposal development.

  • Developing objectives that support the community's strategic plan.

Committee Composition

Housing Committee consists of no more than nine registered Band members and/or community members, including one Council representative. Quorum is 50% plus one member. Committee members are appointed by Council and serve on a volunteer basis.

Community Participation

Community members may bring infrastructure concerns forward to the Committee through the Infrastructure Director or the Councillor with the Infrastructure Portfolio. Concerns must be submitted in writing and include a proposed recommendation or resolution.
