The Infrastructure Department manages the daily operations of Public Works, Housing, and the Fire department.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Infrastructure Director
The Infrastructure Director is responsible for overseeing, managing, and evaluating all aspects of the Public Works Department to ensure the effective delivery of public services while upholding safety, reliability, and efficiency. Reporting to the Director of Operations, this role involves directing technical aspects of road maintenance, construction, housing projects, water works, fire department, and equipment management. The director is accountable for asset maintenance, project planning, health and safety compliance, team management, budgeting, policy development, proposal writing, interagency collaboration, community liaison, reporting, and the operation and maintenance of the water plant system. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the community's infrastructure functions optimally and in line with established standards and regulations.

Water Plant/Public works technician
The Water Plant/Public Works Technician plays a significant role in supervising technical operations related to water plant systems, heavy equipment operation, road maintenance, and general labor duties for Mississauga First Nation. Reporting to the Infrastructure Director, this role operates the water plant, collects and logs water samples, maintains water systems, and responds to emergencies. Additionally, the technician operates heavy equipment for road maintenance, construction, and cemetery preparation. They conduct road maintenance tasks, such as clearing ditches and sanding roads, while also performing general labor duties like sanitation collection and event setup. The position requires independent judgment, adhering to established policies and objectives, and ensuring safety standards are met throughout all activities.
Fire Prevention/Public Works Technician
The Fire Prevention and Public Works Technician role involves independent supervision of technical operations related to fire prevention, protection, and public works. Collaborating with the Infrastructure Department, the technician supports various tasks under the Infrastructure Director's guidance, including heavy equipment operation, road maintenance, water system maintenance, and sanitation activities. The role encompasses fire prevention services such as recruitment and training of volunteer firefighters, equipment maintenance, fire extinguishing, and collaborating with other fire departments. Additionally, the technician operates heavy equipment, assists in road maintenance, and conducts general labor duties. The position reports to the Infrastructure Director and maintains Mississauga First Nation's fire protection assets, allowing for significant independent judgment in line with established policies and objectives.
Maintenance Management Technician
The Maintenance Management Technician role involves overseeing the daily maintenance and security of Mississauga First Nation's community buildings, parks, and waste transfer station. Reporting to the Infrastructure Director, the technician is responsible for ensuring safety, cleanliness, and proper functioning of these facilities. The role includes monitoring sites, performing necessary maintenance and repairs, reporting trespassers or misuse, and operating small motor equipment for tasks such as lawn care and equipment maintenance. The technician also coordinates the cleaning and maintenance of play parks, baseball parks, and the cemetery, ensuring grass cutting and waste removal.
Road Lead/PUBLIC WORKS TECHNICIAN
The Roads Lead and Public Works Coordinator role involves comprehensive administration, planning, and supervision of road maintenance, bridges, and corridors within Mississauga First Nation. This includes routine maintenance, capital projects, and adhering to regulations. The coordinator oversees equipment purchases, budgeting, and expenditure control. Collaborating with the Infrastructure Director and Fire Chief/Public Works Coordinator, the role manages water plant operations, fire and emergency responses, heavy equipment operation, road maintenance, and general labor duties. This position requires independent judgment in alignment with established policies and objectives. Key responsibilities include organizing and overseeing road maintenance, ensuring safety protocols, managing equipment and vehicle maintenance, operating heavy equipment, conducting water plant operations, and performing general labor tasks. This role plays a crucial role in maintaining the road network, water systems, and overall community infrastructure.
